Rookie Chris Kirk claimed his first PGA Tour win at the Viking Classic, edging George McNeill and Tom Pernice Jr. at Annandale GC in Mississippi. Kirk’s four-round total of 22-under par matched the tournament record.

Tied with McNeill on 17 and facing a 140-yard approach over water, Kirk stuck a 9-iron five feet from the pin and holed the birdie putt. The win brought him full circle at the Viking Classic, where Kirk made his PGA Tour debut in 2007.

Pernice, 51, was vying to become the second oldest winner in Tour history, but his final-round 67 came up just shy. Bud Cauley, Hunter Haas and Jim Renner tied fourth on -20.
